2008 Campaign

Gent per Gent, aiming to improve the quality of life will launch its campaign this year, raising funds for cardiovascular related diseases.

Our slogan: One phone call, a Gilmer of hope.

Cardiovascular diseases are circulatory related illnesses, and can affect diverse parts of the body and vary in nature.

There are 4 general types:

Ischemic heart disease
Cerebrovascular disease
Peripheral Vascular disease
Other diseases

The first two types are the most sever having serious affects on the patient’s quality of life.

According to the Organización Mundial de la Salud (World Organization of Health: OMS), cardiovascular diseases are today the number 1 cause of death Worldwide.

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in the Valencian Community and in Spain as a whole, with an average death rate of 32.5% (28.5% in men and 36.8% in women), 274 deaths in every 100,000 habitants (255 in men and 292 in women).

There are ways in reducing the risks, involving lifestyle changes. Combating obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, a sedentary lifestyle and tobacco consumption.

cientific research will help us find new ways both in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
